My son will be 1 in 2 weeks! 🎉 My mom always wants to buy the special items for him (like when I was pregnant she wanted to buy the car seat, etc.), and in this instance, she wants to get his birthday cake. I don't have a problem with this at all. I don't need the help financially, but I know it means something to her to help provide. The problem, however, is that she wants to pick out the cake herself. I've already planned the party, sent out invitations in the theme that I chose, and she wants to get this random disney sheet cake from Walmart that doesn't have anything to do with the theme. I just feel a little irritated by it, because she already got to do this with her own children. And every future party for my son will be what HE wants. This is the one that I wanted to do, and it's his first so I want it to be picture perfect. I don't want to hurt her feelings by buying the cake myself, but I also don't want to force her to buy the cake I chose either. Any advice? Or am I being picky?
