first ivf cycle! egg retrieval 4 August
here I am.... 6 days in of doing my injections. Doing gonal F and cetratide right now, so far they haven't been so bad.
I have a phobea of needles, I used to faint at the sight of needles before!
10 days ago while getting a blood test before starting stims I was shaking and crying like a baby... so much so the whole blood bank heard me, sympathized and I got a lolly pop!
As pathetic as that sounds.... I got to objecting like a brave soldier.
The hubby administered the first gonal f which I fixed and gave him, I filmed it just to review afterwards, which helped. That it wasn't so bad. I took everyday as it came, at 9pm and just got on with it.
The first scan showed me having 10 follicles under 15mm in right ovary and 7 small ones in left. Looking good! and my period came too.
The blood test to check for hormones scared me, but I took it, with a help of a friend who massaged me.
I'm now nearly a week through of having the injections. I'm proof that we as humans can get through anything
Needle phobea... having avoided them for 30 yrs... here I am doing them myself, making the habs and having them twice daily totally voluntarily. Just goes to show. I'm glad I'm tackling my worst fear so bravely. I'm surprised myself.
I have another scan on Friday. ( and another blood test! sigh!!!)
then next week I'll know about my egg retrieval date which terrifies me. Then it's over. Little steps now... small check points and little successes. Right now I'm feeling on top of the world that I'm managing to breathe through the injections.
