My girl's name, when romanized, spells Haena. It's a name from my mother tongue meaning sunrise or morning sun and is pronounced the same as Hannah. The equivalent names when thinking of the meaning would be Dawn or Aurora. It is not a Western name but it sounds like one so I'm not sure if I should give her an English name or use her native name until she is old enough to decide for herself. I initially wanted her to have one name but I'm getting a bit sick of people making bad jokes like "You know that's not how it is spelled?" And am wondering if she will have to deal with these joles all her life. Does it look like a badly spelled version of Hannah? I'm not sure I like either Dawn or Aurora though...
