High risk doctor? Anyone?

So my doctor said in about a month he will refer me to a high risk doctor. My baby twins are mo/mo and i am 10 weeks 4 days pregnant. I just wanted some info if anyone has gone to one. What is the difference with them and a reg ob/gyn? What do they do differently?

This is normal practice - since twins are high risk and you have to be monitored often you'll see the high risk dr's more than your own. I am mo/di which has a higher risk of ttts and I'm having issues with baby b being IUGR due to placental placement so I'm getting scans weekly since 20 weeks.  Since you are mo/mo you'll likely hit a point where weekly scans are needed too.

I see a specialist also. I'm having di/di girls. I started seeing him around 12 weeks. At the beginning I would see both doctors every 4 weeks. My ob would do his part in taking care of my health and would check babies heart rates. My specialist would do all the ultrasounds and measurements on the girls. He would keep a closer eye on them and my ob would keep an eye on me. I'll be having a scheduled c-section next Thursday at 38 weeks.

I see my high risk dr more than my delivery dr. They do my ultrasounds where my dr just uses the Doppler to hear their heart rates. My high risk dr monitors my GD. It seems like all my delivery dr is going to do is deliver my babies. I'm pretty sure my high risk dr will even suggest when to deliver lol

Totally normal. At my high risk doctors appointments I got and ultrasound every time. Then the last month I went in at least once a week for monitoring. I would see my regular ob/gyn once a month and my high risk Doctor once a month.

Mo/mo are highest risk so defknitely wanna see the high risk doctor.

For me my normal ob is keeping me on unless a problem arises that will need care she can't provide or potential nicu time that needs to be at the local childrens hospital over the nicu at the hospital she can deliver me at.

So far i have all my ultrasounds with the high risk doctor office and go every two weeks since 16ish weeks.

I feel like its over kill but I also understand the risk is much higher than with a singleton.

I am 22 weeks now and at 24 they are doing heart echos on each baby. Not sure when or if i'll end up with weekly appointments with them.

I rarely see the actual doctor at that office. Just the first visit to explain we had mo/di twins and what some things were they would be watching out for.
