It's actually probably smart. I know it's something that people don't really want to talk or think about.. But it's better if you had it planned and paid for. It's stressful trying to scramble up anywhere from $7,000-$15,000, plan it, get a headstone, and then also mourn. It would probably be worth looking into.

Yes! I highly suggest it! My grandma did, decades before she died. She picked out and paid for everything. It saved our family a ton of money (inflation) when the time came. It also saves us all a lot of stress in an already terrible time.

You can make payments on your own funeral before you die (obviously), things like the casket/urn and other services.

They have plans like this at funeral homes assumedly everywhere. In this way you can also pay off and have it done exactly what you want and it keeps you family out of debt and guess work.

Yes. You can. My husband and I have discussed it. Like if I pass before my parents, so any time in the next decade. Ha I for sure want to donate everything I can. From organs, eyes and skin. Cremate me. Share my ashes with my BFF/sisters to do what they want and my parents. And my husband obviously. And the. A religious funeral and a celebration of life after. Lots of booze and stories!

My grandmother had a special drawer that contained all the instructions on her last wishes. She made sure both my aunt (who lived with her) and my parents (who were the next-nearest in terms of distance) knew about that drawer. When my grandmother did pass away, the drawer was opened and it had all the paperwork for her family's burial plot, burial instructions (she wanted to be cremated), a copy of her updated will, etc. It made preparations for her burial so much easier, because all of the information was there.
