Boys and texting

Why dose guys suck at texting? My boy is horrible about it with a lot of one word replies, and sometimes not texting for a couple of days and he's not the only one. I've talked to some of my friends who have boyfriends and they are like yeah that's common. I've read online it's the same way. I don't care about not talking to him all day everyday but I want to know why guys don't care about texting as much as girls do? Any ideas?
