Nipple blister?

Question

So last night my lo was nursing ridiculously hard, and kept pulling off and on and I know she was getting milk bc she was leaking it all over the bed, and it hurt super bad, so this morning I looked and I had like a blister on my nipple :/, first time breastfeeding mom and this freaked me out, will it go away on its own? Should I be concerned with it breaking while she nurses? I keep pumping and nothing is happening 😔

There are a couple types of blisters that can happen, milk blisters and friction blisters. Milk blisters are usually white or possibly yellowish from colostrum inside. Not sure which one you have because both can be caused by poor latch. If you are unsure which one, see a lactation consultant to help you. I know warm wet wash cloths may help soothe pain for both. I have had both, but the milk blister I had I was able to get rid of by using the wash cloth and gently rubbing it. The friction blister, was severely painful and I had to use a nipple shield while feeding my baby to help it heal. To reduce the pain, I tried everything, even using warm tea bags and I was still in pain. It did heal, but took a long time.  Anyways, you should see a lactation consultant regardless because once you get it to heal, you still need to solve the poor latch problem so it doesn't happen again. Hope you feel better and don't worry, once baby gets latch right and you heal, breastfeeding doesn't hurt anymore and becomes a great experience
