When should I register and where?

So this is my first baby and I'm not sure when to start on my registry or even where? Any suggestions welcome :)

I went to target and babies r us. I went when I was about 25 weeks or so, So about 6 months pregnant.

Victoria i have the solution!!!!!!!! There is a baby regsitry app called BabyList. It allows you to add things to register from anywhere on the web, super easy!! I have items off amazon, babysrus, Land of Nod, EVERYWHERE! Its amazing!

I'm registering at Target and buy buy Baby with a few things on Amazon.  The nice thing about buy buy Baby is they take Bed Bath & Beyond coupons!

We debated between Amazon, Target and Babies R Us and finally settled on Target and Babies R Us. 90% of what people bought was from Target. I think we should have just gone with Amazon and Target but I was afraid older relatives wouldn't even understand what Amazon was lol. We didn't consider Buy Buy Baby because they don't have them in areas where our families live. Babies R Us does have a decent reward system and some good exclusives though.

Target, babies r us, personally I chose Walmart. You will need diaper's, wipes ( lots in all sizes ).  Sleeping clothes, onesies ( long sleeve and short but depends on when you're due ), stroller, car seat, diaper bags, hygiene kit ( nail clippers, nose bulb ect) baby tub, crib, changing table, crib mattress and probably a plastic protector for it in case of accidents, bottles even if you breast feed ( storage containers if you do as well as nursing pads and nipple creme) those are just basics
