Longer strings during period? Is this normal??

Question

I had the Paragard IUD inserted back in April and after two months it started expelling, my doctor recommended putting another one in thinking my body hasn't adjusted to the new one. 
I have been paranoid and checking the strings constantly, and during my period, it feels like the strings are long. 
Is it normal for the strings to be long during your period then move back in place afterwards?

I have times of the month where the strings are harder to find and times when they're easy to find. I heard this is because your uterus moves during the month.

It's best to always check around the same time each cycle. I freaked myself out one too many times by feeling and they are almost too short to feel. Turns out mine get short like that right before my period.  Things shift around during your cycle and it will makes the strings feel longer or shorter, but that's completely normal:)
