Did having an abortion affect your ability to become pregnant?

I had an abortion when I was 16 after I was abused. Now I'm almost 26 and having a hard time getting pregnant and wondering if that might be why I'm having issues. 
DO NOT come in here saying I was wrong or why you think it's wrong. I just want to know if anyone has had issues and what they did for it. Love and support only guys.

I had one at 23 and was 22 weeks. I'm pregnant now at 25. Every doctor said that there was no direct correlation. I honestly believe when it's your time and the right person comes along then it will happen. Sorry to be so cliche. Me and my ex husband tried for 7 years. (The aborted pregnancy is another story) and NITHIBG. Now a year a later I'm with someone else and POOF! I'm having a little miracle, but good luck to you and don't lose faith!

I never heard of an actual link between abortion and fertility issues. Hopefully you'll have a kid soon. Good luck!

There isn't a link between conception (and carrying a baby) and previous abortions. I would suggest going to the doc to get yourself checked out if it's been more than a year TTC. It's not completely uncommon for women in their 20s to have some problems getting pregnant.

My sister in law had an abortion when she was 16 and is now 21 and 15 weeks pregnant so I don't think it effected her fertility. Good luck!

I worked with a girl who unfortunately used abortions as birth control. She had five in a year before finally giving birth to her daughter.  I think you're fine, plus it was many years ago, so you body has fully recovered.

I didn't have problems getting pregnant but I had a botched abortion where the left the fetus partially inside me and had to do a second evacuation which caused me to have complications during my pregnancy. My son is my a healthy 3mo old. If you had a normal abortion you should be totally fine.

I'm sorry about the things that happened in your past...I know that couldn't have been an easy decision for you, especially as young as you were. I could never get an abortion myself, but I don't judge you or look down on you for having one. I really hope you are able to concieve...it took me two years to get pregnant with my first so I definitely understand how hard it is when you want it and it just isn't happening.
