Maca: The Health Benefits

Ra
After a devastating miscarriage, I decided to become the healthiest version of myself possible. I was incredibly unhealthy to begin with so I knew it would be a tremendous challenge. Over the past five years, I had gained 70 pounds. At a staggering height of five feet, the weight crippled my body and mind. I lost my beautiful figure, my self esteem, and my enthusiasm for life. Around the time I found out I was pregnant, I was barely logging in 400 steps a day (I'm a PhD student so I never get up from the chair in my home office). I was either skipping two-three meals or gorging on high calorie-low nutrition meals.
The day I received that BFP, I decided to make a complete lifestyle change. However, I did not want to do anything extreme since I was carrying my little bundle but imagine trying to foster a baby's growth, when my body was in the worst shape imaginable.
I miscarried at ten weeks and it was a devastating loss for us. I passed my baby with a lot of pain and tears but it inspired me to change my life forever. If I didn't do it, it would be as if I was dismissing my little one's passing. I also wanted to create a nurturing body for the future children that would inhabit my womb.
I have changed a lot since March and I can honestly say that I have never felt more invigorated. However, my journey is still not complete and worth dedicating a whole new post. All I want to do now is tell the world how amazing Maca is for the body and what it has done for me.
I had read a lot about Maca and how it assists women with infertility and menstrual/ovulation issues. I decided to give it a try one day when I past it on the shelf at Whole Foods. When I read some articles about its health benefits, I could not wait to put it to the test.
WOW! My energy level went through the roof and my period started arriving like a strictly scheduled train. Oh, and it increased my libido too! ;) I have honestly never felt better and I am pretty sure it's this addition to my health regimen. Please read up on it! If you take it, you'll see what I'm talking about. It comes in a pill form too but I just throw it in my lunch smoothie.
I will be ttc for the first time since my miscarriage this August and I will let you guys know how it turns out for me! Baby dust to you all!
