gestational diabetes (do I really have it!?)

Question

Monday my dr told me I have tested positive for gestational diabetes after taking the 3 hour test. Although I'm still eating like I normally would and testing my sugar 2 hours after each meal just to be getting normal levels. Anyone else in this situation!?

I'm in the same situation but haven't been fully diagnosed. I went in last week to get my sonogram done (I get 2 a week because I have gestational hypertension) and he was estimating at weighing 7.14 already so they made me come in the next day and fast and take my sugar. It was high and now I'm having to check every 2 hours. My fasting one is always higher than normal but the others after I eat (I also still eat what I want) are better than normal. I'm 35w3d and I'm being induced at 37 weeks. You aren't alone.

I have gestational diabetes. I failed the three hour test. I was sent to a diabetic specialist and a nutritionist. Even with diet changes and carb counting I was unable to control my fasting blood sugar. I am now on 28 units of insulin each night until the baby is delivered and I have to check my sugar 5x per day. Your doctor wouldn't just say you had it. It's a serious condition that must be monitored for the baby's well-being. I also have an appointment once a week for prenatal care and 2 non-stress tests per week to monitor my baby. Same here! I was diagnosed over a month ago and have my appointment on the 9th with the dietician. The nurse at my OB office said to keep eating normal until I have my appointment so I have been, I have also been checking my blood since my dad is a diabetic and we have the machine already and every time I check it I'm fine. So it gives me relief

I've been monitored for GD since 27 weeks and I am currently 33+1 and I test my sugar levels an hr after every meal. They told me if I checked 2 hrs after a meal they'd be more normalized but even an hr after my numbers are really good with only a couple high cuz I kind of over did it on the carbs without realizing it. Currently they're just monitoring my fasting numbers because those are slowly creeping up and I've been slight above the goal number about 3-4 days a week. I swore I didn't have GD but if my Dr says I do then I will be doing anything I possibly can for my baby boy because I want him healthy. Currently I haven't been put on medication and I'm praying I don't have to. It's already hard enough for me to remember to check my sugars an hr after. Good Luck to you ❤😊

So happy to see a post like this I have struggled with being on the border line since 28 weeks really since 12 weeks that's when they did my first round of tests and I barely passed the 3 hour so no diagnosis was just told to come down on the sugar..
. so at 28 weeks I failed the one hour and decline the 3 hour but it took almost a month for them to set up an appointment for the high risk doctor so a week before my dr. Just kept saying your sugar is really high your A1C is really high with a lot of sugar in your urine and was like really aggressive and disappointed at me then she threatened to transfer me and I said well if you feel that way you can transfer me today so I transferred myself ....my new doctor asked about the diagnosis and I told them I classified myself because I was not going to do another 3 hour if I knew I was already borderline so they talked me into doing it anyways ...I did the 3 hour and I passed then 2 weeks later at my appointment she said I don't like your results anybody else I would say they passed but with you and your history I want you to take the glucometer and test your sugar's 4 times today for this week and I'll see you next week so my appointment is tomorrow and my sugars are fine they're actually almost too low they're under 70 during the day and the highest it's been is 145 once after dinner..... so I'm so confused but happy to have gone through it because this just adds another reason why this is my first and last pregnancy.... I never want to put another child through this my body is not made 4 this some women's bodies are.... I'm so thankful that my son will come out healthy I hope to God he does because this is ridiculous

I have it as well I'm 32weeks I don't have to take any medication or anything like that I just have to check my sugar every two hours after I eat but my sugars are always good and under control

I have been in the same boat, with only a couple high sugars. I talked to my dietician and nurse today and they said that, although I am borderline now, as the pregnancy progresses the baby will cause even more intolerance. She said that she has seen mothers who were questioning why they were having to monitor their sugars have to be on insulin towards the end of their pregnancy. It helped put it into perspective for me.
