Birth control

so I'm going to the OB soon and I'm going to be starting birth control soon. my mom thinks I should get the type of birth control that goes in your arm and lasts for 3 years instead of taking a pill. a lot of people have said negative things about it, but others have said positive things about it. does anyone have any bad experiences with the implant? any good ones?
