Dental dams?

I personally don't know anyone that has used dental dams so I was just curious on how common they are. For the women that answer yes, do they take away from the sensation at all?

I have a friend who got oral while her guy used a dental dam. She said it wasn't bad or very different. You just wouldn't have the texture of the persons tounge so some sensation was be lost. But better to be safe than sorry.
