Ovulation/LH surge

When does your LH surge drop? Before ovulation or after? And how soon after? I'm trying to figure out the day I ovulated. I have mittelscherz so I'm guessing it was last night. I just took another opk and it was negative. Wondering if we should BD one more time. Thanks!
