Um depends. I gave my ex back his t-shirts because he asked. I sold the jewelry he bought me though. 😂💰

I bought my ex an iPhone cash, paid for his phone bills, bought him clothes, food, and paid for his drivers classes and license. When we broke up he asked for his hoodies back and I gave them back. 
The other stuff (gifts, pictures, etc.) I got rid of.

Over time I remember that I some clothes I have are his and I throw them out as I remember.

I was buying my ex birthday presents and had no idea he was cheating on me, he knew I was in the middle of buying him presents and let me get on with it without saying a word, knowing he was going to end it soon. When we did split shortly after he gave me the money I had spent on his birthday presents back (£200) but as for previous birthdays/Xmas and jewellery no we didn't. They were presents when we together although I did donate all my jewellery to charity shops
