Fasting blood sugars??

Question

Anyone having trouble controlling fasting blood sugars? I'm 35 weeks, and this past week my sugars have started creeping up above 100. I think my dr will start me on medicine . Any one else having issues with fasting blood sugar ? Anything that helped?

I'm currently 36w and have been on insulin at bedtime since around week 20.  Then, around week 32, they put me on insulin with breakfast.  My fasting numbers always seemed to be high (95ish) no matter what I ate or did.  But you should definitely try to see if you can find a pattern.  Try different night time snacks and try to eat dinner and your night time snack at different times to see if something works.  Taking insulin sucks, but it usually doesn't hurt.  Best of luck!!

I was told by my dietician that I have to snack late enough at night to make sure I'm not allowing more than 10 hours between snack and the fasting check. If more than 10 hours, our blood sugar dips to low causing the liver to release sugar which causes a spike.

I'm 37+2 and I've had a handful of high fasting readings. After tracking the pattern it turns out that it's likely due to going too long between eating. All my other numbers have been great, so when I started getting high morning readings I was shocked! I'm a BIG sleeper and don't have to even get up to pee at night, so on my days off when I can sleep in I usually sleep 10+ hrs. Those were the days my mornings were high. So my midwives told me to either eat a snack right before bed, or I need to get up at some point in the middle of the night and have a small snack. Since eating before bed, my numbers are all good again! Good luck!

My MIL is type 1 diabetic and she says fasting numbers under 100 are stellar. Does anyone know if they hold gestational diabetics to stricter numbers?

Yes, I have been as well. They just put me on insulin that I only take at night right before bed. I'm only 13 weeks along 😩😭
