Pregnancy after varicocele repair?

My husband and I are healthy 26 year olds and have been TTC for 15 months. We were recently diagnosed with male factor infertility (he has a varicocele but they don't think that's the main issue) and the specialist said we either start IVF now, repair the varicocele and try again 6 months after, or start IVF now/repair varicocele when pregnant/hope to get pregnant the second time naturally... I don't want to waste any time but my insurance doesn't cover IVF. Has anyone's husband had a varicocele repair and then gotten pregnant after? Please help I need opinions and experiences!!!

I have not been through this but a friend of mine has. He had his repaired about 2-ish years ago. Unfortunately he and his ex wife were unable to conceive but now with his new significant other they are expecting. Please don't give up.
