IVF treatments have an age limit?" /> I was watching the new tonight and this 60 year old lady in Australia went overseas for IVF got pregnant and delivered a healthy baby. Honestly I believe anyone should be allowed to do what they want BUT 60 years old will cause a lot of risks for baby and mother. So yes I think there should be an age restriction

I mean, I want to say I really don't think anyone at that age should do it, but it's really no ones business to put a limit on it, especially if they're not paying for it.

It's not just the health risks when pregnant though, that child is going to be loosing their mother at a younger age than most people and maybe have to look after to her when they're still young and she's deteriating due to her age! Also their mother is going to be older than most of their friends grandparents. Your body stops producing eggs at a certain time because it's no longer capable of having and raising children, generally you get weaker and have less energy with age so that not ideal.

Not against older people parenting just believe that once a woman goes through medapuse that they should be done giving birth due to the risk of an older woman giving birth and the strain it puts on their body. Now if they want to adopt or have a someone ease carry a baby for them I see no problem with this.

I think as long as people are fully educated on the procedure, the pros and cons and the risks- they should be allowed to make whatever choice they want, regardless of age.
This goes for just about anything related to our bodies. Want an abortion? That's fine, we just need to make sure you're fully educated on the procedure, risks, emotions, etc. Want an epidural during birth? Cool! Let's just walk you through everything you need to know about one though. Feel like you need assisted suicide? Okay, but first lets talk everything through and make sure you fully understand the decision you're about to make.
People should always, ALWAYS have the freedom to make choices about their own bodies. Society, the government, parents should have no say in the choice. BUT people need to be educated on their choice and not blindly make permenant or detrimental choices without knowing it.

This is tantamount to asking whether there should be an age limit on parenting. Unless you mean it from a purely medical perspective. Baring in mind that the risks of genetic problems associated with age are removed by the use of donor egg and sperm with older parents.

Whilst I get the comments about age and associated health risks, I feel there are other factors that dictate far more as to whether someone would make a suitable parent HOWEVER you never 100% know what a person or couples' circumstances are so I think if a person wants to spend their money on that then so be it.
