What was your pregnancy experience?

My boyfriend and I are talking about having a baby! What was your pregnancy/labor experience?

. My blood pressure skyrocketed 3rd trimester and I was diagnosed with preeclampsia. I was put on bed rest. I went for a non-stress test, which is where they monitor your BP, and babies movements for an hour or so. And I wasn't getting better. They decided to induce me a month early, my Bp was just too high.

I cried as they moved me to a birthing room. They had terrible trouble finding my vein to start me on an IV, because I was so swollen with fluids. They had an anesthesiologist come in and start my iV. I was placed on magnesium to prevent seizures, and Pitocin to kick start labor. A foli-bulb was used to open up my cervix and start dilation.

After hours of nothing happening, they upped the Pitocin. Eventually since it was Doing nothing, they stopped it and let me rest through the night, and started it again early that morning. When I woke the doctor came in and broke my water and I immediately felt the contractions. They were intense because of the drugs, and the magnesium was making me exhausted and weak. The pain was so intense, I asked for an epidural. It took the anesthesiologist five times to get it right! It wasn't painful but it was a freaky feeling. But after the pain meds were kicking in I felt relief.

I was so tired when it came time to push, and I did my very best! But I'm a small person, with a small vaginal canal, and I ended up having to get an episiotomy. After thirty hours of labor my baby girl was here! I held her for all of sixty seconds while the doctor pressed on my stomach to get the placenta out, and she was taken from me and handed to my husband for all of sixty seconds before being taken to the NICU where she stayed for a weak. She had magnesium in her system, and it made her have trouble breathing. So she was on oxygen, because she sometimes wouldn't breathe.

9 months later, she's healthy as can be!
