I told him he killed the mood and a guy should never ask, it's supposed to just happen.

I don't know, I just feel like not only is it slightly disrespectful to assume but it's also a big turn off.

Asking is fine, pressuring is not. It seems like he was asking to me but was doing it really awkwardly.
