Birth control shot?

I'm nervous about trying something different but I've been on a pill for years now and I'm honestly just tired of freaking out and trying to make sure I stay on track with taking it properly.

Thinking about the shot...help? 😰

I've been on the shot for 3 years and about half way through it I've experienced some pretty bad symptoms. I've gained 20 lbs, I always feel nauseous, REALLY bad migraines, and of course I don't have a period but I still get all of the symptoms of a period. Everyone is different though, I made the decision to switch back to pill because of the symptoms I've experienced.

I bled for an entire year straight on the depo shot. Gained so much weight that I can't lose and never wanted to have sex and just wasn't myself. Recently just got off it since I'm 18 now and actually have a choice and now I won't stop bleeding yet again. I wouldn't ever recommend the depo shot to anyone.

If you're wanting something new and something you don't have to remember you could ask your doctor about Nuvaring. You put it in for 3 weeks and take it out for 1 and put a new one in after that. It's so nice. It's also the only birth control that I haven't had really bad depression issues, no acne and no mood swings when I first started. It's soooo nice.

I wouldn't do the shot just because I switched from the shot to the pill. The shot has no added hormones so it can cause you to act crazy. I used to cry all the time for no reason at all and I had no control over my emotions. I'm on the pill now which has estrogen in it and it's perfectly fine. If the pill works for you then stick with it

If you plan on getting pregnant in the year or next year DONT GET THE SHOT! Ive been on it for more then 4 years now and I'm trying to conceive and still haven't had any luck been off shot for 5 months now and still no period

I got pregnant on the depo shot. Lol. Not saying that'll happen if you try. But it happened to me! I had been on it for a month and a half before I got pregnant! I was 17 at the time.

Please look up the side effects of the depovera shot! The pill is a better option.

I loved the shot. I didn't have a period for 2 years. It was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I get moody when I am on any form of birth control, so that was the downer to it. Other than that I loved it.

I went on the shot and it was HORRIBLE. In a two month span of time I was bleeding for 50 DAYS (no joke, literally 50 days out of 60.) It also made me break out horribly (and I'm 24 years old). Apparently it's good for some people but I am not one of them.

I've been on the pill for 7 years and I switched to the shot last month. I can tell you from my personal experience so far:
-the shot is painless and I don't have to worry about taking a pill every night
-I don't have a period 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 (can I get a hallelujah?)
-my hormonal mood swings are not NEARLY as bad
-only downfall is my face looks like I'm going through puberty all over again! My acne is worse than ever.

I'm hoping that my face will clear up the longer I'm on it, but so far it's been worth it for me. Try it out and if it's not for you, it's only for 3 months!
