Doula Anyone????

Question

I really want to hire a Doula for my sons birth. I didn't have one for my first child and it was a terrible experience. I'm really hoping that a Doula will be the answer to get me through this because I'm very scared about giving birth again. If anyone can share stories or experiences with a Doula that would be a great help. Thanks ladies 😀

We hired a doula and she is amazing. She is doing our classes and she's basically just a text away for any fears and/or questions I have. I bought the largest package she had because I wanted the classes and other things she provides .. She had packages between 700-1700 USD. I think it's well worth the money. She provides me with birth videos    And she is also a lactation/breastfeeding specialist so she stays with us until we breastfeed successfully and will follow up at my house while we are home. It's like having a wise woman as your close friend!

I'm currently setting up some interviews with doulas. ..I've had a few not so great experiences at L and D..One of them made a mistake and mis  measured my cervix, causing them to think I was at risk for preterm labor and they gave me steroids and royally scared me for days until they measured again and said I was fine. Then this week I got rear ended and they took the opportunity to keep me there for 6 hours running every kind of test under the sun, including swabs for infection (like a minor fender bender would give me a yeast infection...) Every test came back great but they kept going. I held it together until she tried to give me a bag of IV fluids and the huge needle blew my vein and blood went everywhere. I was hysterical, and now I'm afraid to give birth there.  I really feel that I need the doula's support and for her to be my advocate so my husband and I aren't stressed!

I have the chance to have one...although she wouldnt be at the birth...im 31 weeks so i feel it's a lil late
