Period PAINS

Ugh, I have the worst period pains. I usually take Advil to help. Some cycles it does, some it doesn't. This is one of those cycles. In high school I would usually go home if it got to bad. I've gone to a doctor and they prescribed me birth control but I wasn't too keen on the idea. My pain can get to the point where I feel nauseas and faint. I am soon headed off to college and I'd prefer not to chicken out when my period comes. But the pain and amount of blood is unbearable, I usually don't go a period without bleeding through something. I have some pretty embarrassing stories to go along with my period. Lol! Any help, suggestions, words of advice?
