Labor and delivery for testing?

My doctor wants me to head to L&D for testing because I jeep getting severe hives and angioedema. I'm 22 weeks and have never been to an L&D and I'm wondering if anyone knows what to expect.

I had to go recently bc the Drs thought my water may have broken (luckily it didn't) just went to the hospital where my dr is told them at the L&D check in desk my dr sent me bc of ABC and they had me fill out some stuff then they take you back to triage. That was about it for me.
