When did you guys lose your virginity?

I'm 18 and I'm in a relationship, it's been going on for 5 months and he's my first for everything. Me and my mom are close so I finally told her I wasn't a virgin anymore and she started to bawl her eyes out. I honestly don't know why because I waited longer than most teenagers my age. Is she overreacting or is 18 not a appropriate age to lose your virginity?

I don't think she's crying in disappointment or anything from your age. It's hard as a parent, I'm sure, to know your son or daughter's innocence is lost. It's just emotional I think, similar to graduation or birthdays or weddings etc

i lost my virginity at 14.. i wish i wasn't so young but i can't take it back now. a little late for that. i cried afterwards i really regretted it & felt kind of forced to do it.. my boyfriend at the time made me feel like he'd leave if i didn't do it. me being young & naive with love, i caved in. regret that for sure..

She is crying because it is seen as lost innocents, and an irrecoverable stage of growing up.  Yes you are 18, and to you that is long awaited adulthood.  To your mom though, you are still in many ways her little girl that is growing up faster than she is ready for.

I was 21 & in a committed relationship with my now-husband. I certainly didn't tell my mom though, even though we are really close. My mom (& maybe yours?) has the best-to-wait-til-marriage mentality that I'm sure was more common in their generation, so I let her believe whatever she wanted.
