Bleeding after dilation check?

Had first dilation check today at my weekly doc appt. (Due Monday I'm 39+4) Doc mentioned I may spot or bleed a little from it, but right after the check I bled quite a bit (onto floor when I stood up, onto paper towels, my hands, etc) Doc sent me straight to hospital just to make sure. After stress test, fetal monitor, ultrasound etc they said placenta and everything looked fine and sent me home. Has anyone else had anything similar?
