Hair tourniquet

Tera
Okay peeps for those of you whom don't know what this is, it is when a piece of hair manages to wrap it's self a round a baby's body part. A tourniquet can happen anywhere on the body, but most often occurs on a finger or toe. It can also develop around the penis, scrotum, labia, wrist, or ankle. In severe cases it can lead to infection or tissue death. I've never heard of it and have never seen it discussed. It happened to my 2 month old son. I was lucky that it happened during his 2 month old check up. His Dr. saw it and tried her darnedest to remove it. After multiple failed attempts she had me take him to the E.R. There they were finally able to get it. However to get it they had to cut him down to the bone. So my lil man now has 3 stitches on one of his toes. So if you see a hair tourniquet on your baby, that you can't easily remove on your own take your baby to their DR. they will know what to do. Please please check your little ones every day for this. Especially if you have long hair.
