Single Umbilical Artery Advice?

At the anatomy scan we found out our girl only has one of her 2 arteries in her umbilical cord. Doctor downplayed it and said it was super common. Well I researched it a bit and it's only .5-1% of pregnancies, but ups birth defects to 25-30%, most commonly premie sized births. 
Anyone have experience with this or advice?

I have a 2 vessel cord. And no it's not common but it isn't that harmful. Low birth weight and increased risk of down syndrome BUT if your screening tests came back normal, everything should be ok. The most serious is heart and kidney defects which is why they monitor us. I get an ultrasound every 4 weeks starting at 28 weeks and non stress tests every week starting at 34 weeks. If you want to talk or have any more questions let me know. Also, the cord usually has 2 small arteries and one vein but instead the body compensates and makes one LARGE artery.

My niece was like that, she's 3 now. Not trying to scare you but she had a hard time taking her bottle. I've never seen a baby reject the bottle like that and she's almost 4 now but she's very small. Her one in a half year old sister weighs more. She has no problems now other than just being small
