Anti-anxiety meds

I'm 18 and I've struggled with anxiety since I was 7. The older I get the worse it gets and it's getting harder and harder to get a grip on it, so I'm considering taking anti-depressants to treat it. I can't do therapy because I have shitty insurance and can't afford to go regularly. Can anybody shed some light on this for me or give me some advice?
