How would the doctors treat PPD?

I have put many posts up explaining how i'm feeling and nearly everyone has said it's postpartum depression. I am making an appointment tomorrow but was just curious of what the doctors would actually do to treat it? Would i be on medication? If so what medication? I certainly wouldn't want to go to therapy or that. Just curious of what can be done for PPD.

I had antepardum depression, and I have post pardum. I'm currently not on medication because I hate having to rely on it to make me feel "better" sometimes therapy can help, when you talk to your doctor ask him good ways to help the depression.

I think medication is an important first step. please know that you don't have to be on it forever, but if your PPD is severe enough, it's very helpful with getting you back on track. Most likely your doctor will do a screening on you (few questions) and prescribe you something.  I currently take 15mg lexapro and 50mg trazodone and this has helped a lot. I also see someone and practice cbt. It's important you do what you need to do to get better for you and your baby.
