Laparoscopy?

I'm scheduled to have mine this Wednesday as a way to find the cause of abdominal pain that I've been having for about a year now. Has anyone had one that can give me advice about it? I'm feeling very nervous at this point. I also started my period today and am wondering if I can still have the procedure or if this will affect anything. Thanks in advance 😁😁

A laparoscopy doesn't go through your vagina entrance, so I don't see why having a period should affect the operation proceedings. But ring your doctors office, even just to ask the receptionist, if it's okay - just to be sure.
My experience with a laparoscopy (and excision of endometriosis) is that it was really straightforward and easy. Go in, IV line in, knocked out, wake up, IV out, go home. 
I didn't experience a lot of pain (a little pain peeing the first time cause of the catheter). 
For the next few days I had period like cramping pains, but they give you strong antibiotics for that.
You're not supposed to soak your incisions - so showers only, no baths. (I had a bath before I knew that - whoops!) 
Some people have pain in their shoulders from the gas they use to expand your stomach in the surgery (so they can see your organs) and some gas gets trapped and moves up to your shoulders.
Make sure you have a heat pack at home for when you come home from surgery (for your shoulders and cramps - if you get them.)
