Clogged duct? (no picture)

Question

Talk to me about clogged milk ducts. I think I might have one and I'm feeling uneasy about it. I have a red patch of skin next to my nipple and its tender. Also after nursing I can feel a lump on the inside. I've done a warm compress, dangle feeding and frequent emptying. How have you dealt with it and when does it warrant a call to the doctor? Thanks ladies!

I took a diaper that was to small for my lo filled it with really warm water put it in my bra on that boob for 20 min then took a shower and really worked than tender spot and hand expressed and that got mine out also make sure there is not a small scab or thin skin over any of the holes in your nipple preventing milk from coming out.

Ugh so painful! I've had a clogged duct twice on the same breast, within two weeks. I was really stressed and I think that's what brought it on. I nursed more on that side, massaged in the shower, used a heating pad, and took ibuprofen (mainly because I got a fever from it). Within 24 hours it cleared up both times but it was a very miserable 24 hours. I feel your pain!

I had clogged duct, and the very next day I thought I'm dying. I barely could get up from my bed and had horrible fever. I honestly thought it was flu. Btw I couldn't lift my arms, or pick anything up from the floor.
I ended up having mistitis in my right breast. Went to the doc and they gave me antibiotics, said to take hot showers and before breast feeding or pumping to put hot towel or bottle of water under armpit and on my breast and do it 20 min before every feeding. 
7 days later I got yeast infection in my left breast 😳😳😳🙈 I never thought person can get yeast in breast. And they prescribed some topical cream.  It's been very interesting journey...I would suggest to call your doctor before it got worst.

I got that and it very quickly turned into mastitis.... An online search said to seek medical attention when a red spot shows up on your breasts. My mother insisted that I go since I had chills the day before. Luckily I did because my temperature spiked to 104.9F but since I had started taking penicillin that afternoon my fever broke early morning. I would have had to go to the ER.

That happened to me and I ended up getting mastitis. Continue with warm compresses and emptying your breasts. Hot showered and breast massage is supposed to help. My PCM told me to fill the sink up with warm water and dangle my breasts in them to help completely empty.  If you develop a fever or if it becomes painful then go to the doctor. Good luck. Hopefully you don't end up with mastitis- it SUCKS!!!!

I had one just the other day and it was painful. I just kept nursing on that side first and it got better on its own. I also massaged it in the shower.
