How to get a baby away from the pacifier?

My daughter is 6 months old and literally relies on her binky. I tried to take it away from her during naps first and she will scream for hours. Not even normal screaming. She will scream so loud and hard that you can hear it from outside and she starts coughing and turns red. I tried to lwt her cry herself to sleep but it dont work. She will just keep screaming. I dont know what to do

I'm not sure why you are pushing this at 6 months old. So what if baby has a paci? My first didn't like it. My second LOVED it. By 18 months we only allowed it at naps and bedtime. By 2 only bedtime. By 2.5 we said goodbye at bedtime. He liked it. It didn't F up his teeth or delay his speech but it comforted him. I see no issue. Unless you have a 5 year old walking around with a paci hanging out, I really don't care. And honestly, even then I don't judge! That 5 year old could have autism and that paci is making her life better!

I wouldn't take it away until she's ready. People are going to have different opinions about the matter, and this is just mine. But once your kid is ready to give it up, it will be so much easier. It's like potty training, once their ready, it goes pretty smoothly and isn't a big to do. After 2, I took away my sons pacifier except at nap time and bed time, and then by two and a half I took it away from him completely. And he was fine with it, mostly. I had tried to take it away from him before when he was younger and it didn't go so good.

My son is 8 months and still uses his. He's my only one out of my 3 that has used one. Babies just like to suck, it's like a natural instinct and it comforts them. I will try to get rid of it by 1.5 and no more after 2 years old.

Give that girl her pacifier. 6 months is way to early to take it away, especially if she relies on it that much. That is her only method of learning how to self soothe. Until she learns other ways of keeping herself calm, she's not going to stop crying. Babies cannot self soothe on their own. If that helps her, that's awesome.

My son had his pacifier until he was two. His doctor told me don't even try to remove it until at least a year because it helps their facial muscles build for breast feeding or bottle drinking and could potentially help with speech down the road. I don't know if that was the main reason or not but my son could speak very clearly from a very young age. By one he was speaking sentences and strangers could clearly understand him. If she wants or needs it I wouldn't try to force it away from her otherwise she may start sucking her thumb which can be a much harder habit to break. Don't stress about it too much for a while. I think it's a little early to discontinue paci, I would try after 1 year or so. I'm soooo relieved mine takes it, it soothes her and it makes me happy lol

Just take it away. Itll take awhile but she will learn to self soothe. I did it with both of my kids. I personally dont like pacifiers. Or foo foos. Neither of my kids had or have them. My sister let her 3 kids have them they still have them and carry them everywhere i think its an extra hassle. Age 11 8 3 and they carry them everywhere.

When my 3 year old was a baby I only let her use it at name times and bed time and it was mine the rest of the time and eventually I just took it at nap time and bed time and she didn't even car
