White people who constantly quote MLK
What I am about to write I hope gets read because It will get long but I feel white people need to understand this. I am a glow user and lately I've only seen people bring up MLK in comparison to BLM. Stop doing that. Is disgusting. I feel like so many white people (not all) don't know what MLK stood for/ stands for. I feel like white people pull MLK quotes, pictures out of their back pockets as a way to condem black violence (if black people behaved like MLK, if BLM was peaceful like MLK) you need to stop pitting a black man (MLK, who fought for injustices against black people by the hands of white people) against black people. It's patriarchal and it diminishes and misses the point and legacy of MLK. If you want to quote MLK please feel free to quote him when black people are being oppressed, when black people receive poor education, quote him about when black men are sent to prison for petty crimes or given longer prison sentences for being black, lack of health care for blacks and other minority's. How about using MLK to condem white peoples violence against blacks because that's what he would have done? I feel like white people (some) love to use MLK when it comes to him being non violent as a way to critique violence amongst black people but how often is MLK quoted when black people face or endure injustices? Also stop acting as if MLK Jr. is the father of black America. Stop using him to criticize and chastise other black people. Black people he himself fought hard to liberate from the injustice, mistreatment, killing of, by white people. It disrespects him and it is disrespectful to black people.
