Husband needed for first appointment?

Hi ladies, I have my first prenatal appointment next week when I will be 8 weeks. I know they do not do an ultrasound and will give me a script for one. They do not have an US tech in the office. Do you think my husband needs to or should be at this first appointment? Since there is no US, I figured does he really need to be there for my blood work and whatnot? He has to work and if it's not necessary I would rather him save the day off for a more detailed or ultrasound appointment. What do you think??

Husband not necessary.  Only for big 20 week ultrasound.  Most of your routine appointments (aside from maybe the 8 week ultrasound) are BORING!  Unless he really wants to come, ladies let him work or stay home!  Yes, hearing the baby's heartbeat is cool, but don't force it.  You'll have plenty more opportunities for him to be "involved" once the baby is born!!

Same situation with my dr. No ultrasound 1st appt but got a script. They did ask me and him family history of genetics and illnesses so i was glad he was there to help answer questions about his side of the family. Also they did a pelvic exam and she said "yup, 8 weeks" . It was a small reassurance and the first time it was "real". It was nice to share that moment with him. Really up to you! But make sure you know if there is medical history on his side if he doesnt come.

The hubby BETTER be with me for at least 90% of appointments.  It's our first baby and I can't have my nerves getting the best of me, they should be getting the best of him too loll !!

I prefer him there for any decisions such as our last appointment the doctor explained to us about genetic testing. Husbands should hear that too.

Anyways personal preference I think.

If he wants to be there - go for it, but if there isn't an ultrasound, I don't see it as a necessity that he's there. Heck, I don't even want my hubby to be there for our appt Friday for first ultrasound because this is our rainbow baby and if it's bad news, I don't want to subject him to the pain like that. But - he refuses to take no for an answer and insists on being there. He's the sweetest and most supportive man. So, I say leave it up to him. :)

My husband is coming to only the ultrasounds because he wants to see the baby. My first appointment is Friday I'll be 10 weeks and 2 days it will also be my ultrasound

My SO is mad because he didn't think anything interesting would happen at my first appointment, so he stayed in the waiting room. And I ended up getting to hear Roo's heartbeat, only for a couple of seconds, but still.

Mine consisted of peeing in a cup, a pelvic exam, and a congrats from the staff.  My husband came for the second appointment which was the first ultrasound.

With my first pregnancy, my husband was at the 20 week appointment, one other appointment and an ultrasound I had at 35 weeks. I told him it was fine for me to go myself. I was usually going straight to work after and at the time he was driving for work and it was hard for him to get off. He was done driving close to delivery but I didn't see the need for him to go every time. He always called right after though.

Only really for family medical history. My doctors office had a portable ultrasound machine to use as well.
