How long are you taking off for maternity leave?

How long are you working mommas taking off? I'm a nurse, I don't get paid leave 👎🏼. I need to tell my boss something soon. I think I'm going to take 8 but I have the opportunity to take 10. Ugh I Dono what to do! This is first baby by the way and I'm due nov 14.

I'm incredibly glad to live in the UK where provision for maternity leave and pay is very good.  I can take a full year off with pay for 39 weeks of it (not full pay, averaged over the year I'll take home roughly half of what I would working).  I'll also be entitled to six weeks of holiday on full pay after my maternity leave because it accrues while on mat leave. I'm going to take the maximum entitlement because we can afford it.

I'm taking 6 months. I have about 6 weeks PTO saved up, so I'll have full pay for the first 6 weeks, 2/3 my pay on temporary disability for 6 weeks, and then 2/3 my pay from FLA for another 6 weeks. The rest will be unpaid, but I'm basically forced back at 6 months because FMLA only covers 24 weeks (meaning that after that time frame I'm responsible to pay the full weight of my family health insurance policy, which would be about $1400 a month for me, hubby, and baby 😳).

Im taking 12 weeks paid. I have saved up short term leave for the past couple of years. Im a Teaching Assistant and only get 16 days a school year paid off. So if she comes on her due date Nov 7th I wil be home until Jan 30. That's thanks to school holidays not being taken out of my short term leave.

With my daughter I took two months. I'm also a nurse. This time around I have to put my career to the side because my daughter will only be a year when my twins come. (Daycare for 3 babies would be my whole check).
