Delivery room photographer?

What's everyone's take on having a photographer present in the delivery room (at some point) to capture those first special moments between mama, baby and daddy? I'm split down the middle. On one hand, I'd love to have legitimate, lasting, candid photographs so my husband doesn't need to be fiddling around with his cell phone camera. But at the same time, it's more or less a complete stranger in there for one of the most important hours/moments of our lives. Would I find it intrusive?  I mentioned it to my husband today and he thought I was joking and then was subsequently quite opposed to the idea.
