How to help my husband finances

My husband and i are trying to get our finances on track. He makes 30k and i make 50k. He pays his daughter's child support, i have no kid. He owes 15K in student loans and i have no loans. But both of us have bad and no credit; him because of the loans and me because i never had a loan or a credit card, i basically spend strictly within what i make. We are currently thinking this through.

I hate to pay for loans he took before we even met and still did not graduate. But i have to help him; he is my loving and caring husband.

Am thinking of paying for the rent, phone, electric, and car insurance bills for both of us and let him focus on paying his loans. That way he could pay bigger chuncks and clear them all faster. But am still thinking... Any of you been in mu shoes??? What did you do to help your husband??
