Cloth Diapers - Prefolds?

Question

I am interested in cloth diapering. Prefolds sound appealing because of their low cost. However, how would this work with a newborn's umbilical stump?
Also, does it matter what brand I get?

Also you can totally cloth diaper from day one. We did and will be doing it again. The meconium doesn't stain as bad as people say, especially if you breastfed and the sun will take out most stains. Stains are just cosmetic though, so don't worry about having pristine diapers unless you're selling them.

I've heard a lot of cloth diapering mamas use disposable diapers for the first month while their poop is transitioning. Their poops in the first weeks are strange and stain lol.

You can fold down the front of the prefold before putting it on so it's out of the way of the stump. You can use any brand you like. I buy from nickisdiapers because they have reward points and I get their brand as they are the cheapest.

I will be useing these and have a few all,in ones for hubby but for the firat 6wk atlwast ill be doing disposables for the ease of everything esp for hubby lol but for myself as well. I dont wanna change and wash cloth while recovering. Ill already have kids and house to manage.
