Normal process for induction?

Hi ladies. I'm 40+2 just saw my doctor and have an induction scheduled for Friday. I don't want to be induced so hoping baby boy comes before then! Until then, we haven't discussed the process of induction yet, I was wondering what your experiences were for induction? Thanks!

I was just induced yesterday. Honestly we had the best experience. It was nothing like everyone said it would be. We came in at 8am. I apparently was having contractions on my own but didn't feel anything. They started the pitosin (prob spelling that wrong) by 11ish I was 6cm still feeling zero pain. They gave me the epidural just in case. And by 1:15 everyone came rushing into the room. 7 minutes of pushing and he was born at 1:27pm! Never felt him come out either. Amazing experience. I wasn't feeling well after. Very sore and had a fever but better this morning!! You are going to do amazing! Don't listen to all the horror stories people like to tell. Your are going to be fine :)

My cervix was still pretty thick so I had to a have cervadil. It was inserted at 9 pm and removed at 5 am. When I was checked at 730 am, I had thinned out and progressed to to cm in that 2 hour time period (when they removed it I was not dilated or thinned) so they held off on pitocin until they checked me again at 1130am. At that point there was no further progression so they started pitocin. I got an epidural at 230 pm and my baby boy was born at 527 pm. I was really only in labor from about 1 pm until he was born. Before that I didn't really feel anything at all. It was a fairly easy process for me :) good luck to you - don't stress if you end up being induced, you'll end up with a beautiful baby in the end either way :)

This is my induction story with my firstborn, happened 4 and a half years ago.
My OB starts doing cervical checks once a week starting at 37 weeks. I think the most I ever got to was minor effacement and a fingertip dilation even after using all kinds of methods to kick start labor. By 40+5, they did an ultrasound to see where things were and my son's amniotic fluid levels were measuring low so they literally admitted me right after the sonogram. This was around 1030am. Went up to the room, got the IV started and they started the pitocin drip. I never got cervadil or a balloon or anything to help dilate. They increased the pitocin little by little and I started to get horrible contractions I couldn't talk through about 4 hours in. I fought against them for another 5 hours or so, working with my mom and dad, trying to breathe. I was terrified of the epidural. They checked me around 8pm and said that I was only at a 4 and if I "didn't relax" and dilate, I would need a c-section. THAT scared me even more so I caved and got the epidural I think around 9pm. It kicked in almost immediately and was super awesome. I didn't have any side effects other than the chills. I went from a 4 to a 10 in about 2 hours and then pushed for 30-45 minutes and my 7lb 11oz baby boy was out. Needed just a few stitches but otherwise the induction went pretty smoothly, I felt like. My body must have been pretty much ready to give birth anyway. Sorry it was so long but I, too, was terrified that induction would be horrible and for me, it really wasn't. I may be looking at the same situation for this baby and I'm going in positively. Good luck to you!

Hi! I'm 40+5 and just declined my induction that they scheduled for Sunday (41 weeks). Don't do it unless medically necessary!! You are allowed to decline!!   They did a non stress test to monitor the baby and he was great. I just have to repeat it every 3 days.  I knew I wasn't a good candidate for induction.  As of yesterday I wasn't dialated, no contractions ..nothing. I just lost my plug today.

For me they gave me half a pill of idk can't remember but inserted it vaginally waited about 3-4 hours inserted the other half waited 5-6 hours, broke my water then I got an epidural because I wasn't having contractions until my water broke and they came all at once full force, not steady and building up like natural labor. After that we waited for baby which took about another 6-7 hours. Everyone's different though it can go fast or slow

I just had an induction two days ago (I'm still in the hospital). 
They started me on cervidil on day one and it gave me very few changes. The next day they decided to use Pitocin to get things going. They went from 2ml/hr to 24 ml/hr within a few short hours. I was having serious contractions every 15-30 seconds due to the Pitocin. Once I got my epidural things moved better because the pain was bearable and they could use Pitocin more effectively to get things going. I would not recommend getting the Pitocin. It was horrible.

I am 40 weeks and 2 days, scheduled to induce on Wednesday. She told me to eat a ligjt meal, check into the hospital at 7pm Tuesday night, and they will insert capsuls near the cervix. These capsuls do what semen does when you have sex...help you ripen or thin out. After they do that, I will stay over night and sleep at the hospital and if I do not go into labor on my own after that, they will put petocin in my IV and get the show on the road. It can take minutes, hours...and sometimes days, depending on how well your body works with things. I watches my mom go through this process a little over 5 weeks ago with my baby brother. Great experience before I possibly face it myself.

I'm in the same situation but my doctor wants to induce me at 40+2. It's strange to me that docs are so quick to induce. Following for advice!
