Why do doctors say your pregnant from the 1st day of your last perioud

Hey guys. Always questioned why?
But why do doctors say you are pregnant from the 1st day of your last perioud.
Pregnant with my second one 7 week + 5 days x

Answer

It's just an easy way to estimate your due date. In my case. It doesn't work bc I ovulated very late in my cycle.. but my ultrasounds usually say gestational age based on my lmp and then fetal age based on what my baby is measuring..
