When to stop working before due date?

Question

Currently I'm at 36 weeks and still scheduled through 40 weeks and my work locations vary, so I may be anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes from the hospital if I go into labor during the work day. Anyone want to share their thoughts/experiences on working around your due date?

I commute into a major city (about 1 hot 20 min) and stopped working at 38 weeks. Also, it was middle of winter so didn't want to worry about snow and bad weather.

I worked up until I gave birth. I went into early labor at 40 weeks and 4 days at 4:30 am. Worked my normal shift 9am - 5:30pm. Went into active labor the next morning 3am. Have birth at 40 weeks and 5 days at 12:15 pm. I get twelve weeks off, no way was I going to waste that time while pregnant

I worked up til the Friday before I gave birth. My water broke on Saturday at 36 weeks 6days, I was scheduled through 40, baby born on Sunday at 37 weeks exactly. Not the recommended plan, but my work was very understanding.

I worked in the office until 39 weeks and then I worked from home my last week (right up to friday before my due date). My office was about 15 miles (up to an hour in traffic) from the hospital, and my apartment was 3 miles from hospital, but my main reason was because I just couldn't sit comfortably at work or walk (err, waddle) from the parking structure without getting totally wiped. I also had the benefit of working at the same place at my husband so we carpooled...even if I went into labor at the office I wouldn't have had to drive myself. I had a neighbor on call the last week I worked from home (since husband couldn't work from home too). I was 1 cm dilated at my 38 week checkup and my doc didn't think I'd make it to my due date but I had a c -section at 40+2.
