PCOS help?

Recently found out I have PCOS after not having a period for 5 months. Been referred to a specialist but just wanted to know what to expect and what medication I might have? It's so annoying after getting excited to start ttc 😩can I still get pregnant or is it totally not going to happen with no periods? Frustrated!

I'm 31 and got diagnosed with PCOS at 16. Yes, you can absolutely get pregnant! Took my around 16 months but currently 7months pregnant! I took metformin for a year and 6 rounds of Clomid. Although the meds did cause ovulation, it never resulted in a pregnancy. It wasn't until I went to a fertility clinic and had testing done that I got pregnant! I hated when people would say "it will happen when you least expect it"....but wow! That's what happened to me. Once I gave up and scheduled to talk about IVF and IUI, I got my BFP while on no meds!
It's a good idea to see a specialist now so that you can get all your questions answered. But PCOS does not mean infertile. Just means you MIGHT need a little extra help 😊

Chin up! I can't give you a definitive answer on what the doctor will tel you. Every case is different. I know women who have PCOS who were able to get pregnant on their own, as well as on medication. When I was diagnosed with PCOS my doctor started me with bc to regulate my periods, I took a preconception blood work check and from there we took steps to figure out what would be good for me. The only advice I can give you right now is ask questions lots and lots of questions, do I have progesterone? How do my follicles look, are my ovaries healthy, what vitamins should I be taking? Those are a few to help you out!

You will probably get Metformin to try and regulate insulin sensitivity which will help with hormone imbalance. They will probably give you provera to jump start a cycle. Also eventually Clomid or Femara will probably be in your future to help you ovulate. Good luck!
