What caused you to get a membrane sweep?

If you plan on or have gotten a membrane sweep what made the doctor consider giving you one? How many weeks? How dilated were you?

My doctor gave me one at 38w2d as I had my previous at 37 and 38 weeks and they were perfect and also because this pregnancy has been really though on me. It didn't work tho, I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow.

I go to midwives & they offered it as an option at 40 weeks. They will not do it any earlier because unless your body is close to and ready to go into labor. If you are not ready, it just makes you uncomfortable and won't do anything. They said you know if it worked if you go into labor within 24 hours

I got one at 38+3 I was 3 cm and 80% effaced. We want the baby to come in August (because of my husband's schooling schedule) and my doctors asked if I wanted to try it. They never push cervical checks or membrane sweeps, they just ask if I want to do those things. I have another appointment tomorrow and I will be 39+3, so we will try another sweep and see if it works.
