Will have to deliver at 37 wks

Question

I have 3 children. All but the last was a vaginal birth. My last son I had to have an emergency c-section. The outside cut is a bikini cut and the cut on the inside is up and down. That was 11 yrs ago. I got a big surprise when I found out I was pregnant with this little guy that's for sure! But we are over joyed! My DD is 12/11/16. While seeing my OB today I was told I'd need to have my C-section at 37 Wks! I'm not surprised by having to have a C-section. I do understand that I must go at 37wks for the safety of the by and myaelf, I'm just nervous about having him so early. Has anyone else deliverd at 37 wks? Any advice would help lots.

My 2nd baby at 35 weeks i was scared bc I taught he had to go to nicu but he didnt he was breathing on his own weighing 6.0lbs no extra stay or nothing

Interesting, my drs won't do any  csections before 39 weeks. I have been told that if I go into labor after 36 weeks its straight to the OR, though!  You should be fine delivering at 37 weeks. I do understand its because of the incision. I am surprised they did a bikini then a transverse... Weird.

I was induced and had my son at 37 weeks. He was almost 8lbs when he was born and was perfectly healthy except for jaundice. It was not serious though and he only had the Billy light for 24 hours. I might get induced again at 37 weeks and I'm not that nervous now that I know what to expect.

My first was born at 35 weeks - no issues and totally healthy, 5lbs 12 oz. My second came at 37 weeks and was completely healthy, 6lbs 10oz. At 37 weeks you're considered full term and should be just fine! I'm hoping for a 37 weeker again :)

I have to have a c-section at 39weeks cause I had my first the same way. Mine is just a week early and you'll only be a few weeks off from me. I think you and your baby we'll be fine. Good luck! 😊

My DD is 12/11/16 also but I found out today I have to get induced at 38 weeks since I'm high risk I'm scared.

Generally speaking, from 36 wks they (most) consider you to be full term. I'm no doctor by any means, but I'd do research if I were you. Figure out the risks, pros and cons, of having a repeat section at that stage. I'm in your shoes as well. It has been 14 yrs since my last pregnancy and I had two sections. I don't have any records on either of them, so who knows how I was cut internally. LOL It doesn't matter to me either way. I've known women who've had old fashioned vertical sections and gone on to have a vaginal birth afterwards. Or bodies are far more capable than we often think! Also, risk of torture is .05% in most instances. Since you've already delivered vaginally I'd say you're a perfect candidate for a vbac. Again tho, do your own research. Be informed and ALWAYS remember...YOUR body, YOUR baby, YOUR choice!
