When do you start looking for a lactation consultant
I'm 28 weeks pregnant, I'll be having a csection the week of Nov 8-15, I have yet to schedule a definite date. I've had 2 children prior to this one and I struggled with breast feeding with each one. My oldest only fed for 3 days. I had a horrible experience with my csection and needed a blood transfusion. I was in pain, was drugged up, and formula was almost necessary at that point. I tried a few days later and I couldn't get her to latch to save my life. With my second, I made it 3 weeks. She was colicky and was literally attached to me 80% of my day. It was a struggle because I needed help but wasn't patient enough to find the resources I needed (like a consultant, an electric pump...etc) So I guess my question is: is it too early to start looking for a consultant?? I want to have one lined up and ready this time. I don't want to be at a "I want to give up" level when I start looking for one. It's VERY important to me to make it work this time. I've struggled with latching with both prior experiences and I will be going back to work and need advice on pumping and storing. I feel like I'm a first time mom in this area.
