Semen analysis?

So I went to the doctor today and she wants to do a semen analysis. I asked her about directions and she said there will be directions with the sample container. So the nurse comes in and gave me the container and a peice of paper. After I left I realized there were no directions! 😩 So ladies who have done this before please help me out!

How long and the semen be left in the container before I turn it in? Does it need to be refrigerated or anything?  Can the semen only be collected through masterbation/hand job? Does it matter when the last ejaculation before sample was? How long does it take to get the results?

Any thing else I should know would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

My hubby had one after his reversal. You cannot use anything except hand, not by any other method. No lubes, and it has to be kept warm and turned in within an hour. Honestly, we went into the hospital single stall rest room and got the sample and took it right up to lab. I know that may sound strange, but it was the easiest way to make sure it was fresh when they got it.

It has to be taken in within an hour.  If you live close he can do it at home..tell him not to use any lube or anything that will mess up the sample. Also you need to keep it body temperature. Not any warmer than that; not any cooler. What my SO was told to do was keep it between his legs when he drove it to the clinic, or the nurses also told me that some of the wives would bring it in for their SO and keep it in the bra so that it stayed perfect body temp. Absolutely no lube, spit included. My husband had less than 1 hour to get his sample to the lab,  he kept the sample between his legs to keep it body temp. Also make sure no release for him for three to five days, to make sure he has enough sperm built up

The sample is supposed to be kept warm by keeping it under clothing and needs to be handed in within an hour of the sample being produced. No lubricants should be used as they can corrup a sample

I looked up online and it said it should reach the lab within an hour?! But I asked the nurse that specifically and she said I just wouldn't wait more than two days to turn it in?

I'd call the doctors office and ask, everyone might be different you never know.
