can I drink coffee while EBF?

Question

Will the caffeine make her crazy, will she get hooked on it if I have a cup every morning? How much of it actually goes through the breast milk? #FTM #EBF #12weeksold

I have a lot of coffee and my babe is awesome. Just try and watch for any changes, but I don't know a mom IRL that's not drinking coffee.

I drink 1-2 cups a day (hello I am exhausted) and my son sleeps perfectly and seems to have no reaction at all.

Just remember whatever you eat gets to your baby 6-10 hrs later. So if you have coffee after 10am baby could get  caffeine just in time for bed

Depends on the baby. If you're worried you can always have her nurse while you're drinking your cup of coffee so that she doesn't get as much caffeine - it takes a little time to get into your milk.

My lo is 4.5months, EBF and I drink at least 1 cup of coffee a day sometimes more. It doesn't affect him at all. I on the other hand wouldn't survive without it!

I don't drink it. I know some people say you can, and that's cool if you decide to, but knowing my baby will get even small amounts of caffeine... I just don't think it's good for her. Even if she doesn't show any signs that it's affecting her. But that's my personal choice based on my feeling about it and not based in anything founded in research and science

I drink a cup or two and I haven't seen any negative changes in my baby. I have no problem putting him down at night or anything either. Other than that I strictly drink water to stay hydrated for both of us. I think some people worry too much but if you're not comfortable with something don't do it. You know your body and your baby so it's your call

It will be okay in small amount like one medium coffee. Or decaf is an option if you don't feel you need a caffeine boost and just want coffee

Only a very small amount of caffeine gets into the milk so I still have coffee sometimes. It doesn't seem to effect my son. There are other things we eat and drink with caffeine too so I feel like some coffee once in awhile wouldn't hurt.

I have 1 large cup every morning.  Home brewed.  Doesnt seem to bother my baby.  Ive been doing so since she was born... also had one cup daily while prego.
