How long for the rod to work?

Just wondering how long does the implanon/nexplanon take to come into full effect? Is it straight away or a couple weeks/months?

I read online that it was 1 week but I recently had it put in on Tuesday and my doctor said 2 weeks.

I had that in for over a year and it didn't work for me, so they gave me the pill to take with it. It works faster for some people and for others (like me) it doesn't work at all.
